A BIT ABOUT ME
For over twenty years, I've worked with television productions around the world. I have researched over 1,500 hours of programming for the National Geographic Channel, complimented by freelance experience in New Zealand, Brazil, and the United States.
SERVICES AND FEES
RESEARCH
During my 19 years working for National Geographic, I've supervised the research process on more than 1,500 hours of programming, including Oscar- and Emmy-winning documentaries. This work entailed reviewing all script and video drafts, providing feedback at every stage of production, and writing factual content. I ensured that all programming adhered to National Geographic’s elevated standards of accuracy, journalistic balance, sensitive treatment of controversial issues, and respect for the natural world. Finally, I advised various teams within National Geographic regarding sensitive issues related to animal ethics and welfare. Although I've researched every topic under the sun, I specialize in natural history, animal behavior, animal welfare, and animal-first reality shows (like series-length veterinarian profiles).
PRODUCTION
While working in film production in New Zealand and Brazil, I assistant-directed the post-production of a full-length documentary film for NHNZ, wrote a full-length documentary film script for NHNZ, created film pitches and promotional materials for NHNZ, Canal Azul and Bossa Nova Films, and produced field segments for Bossa Nova Films.
WRITING
My writing credits include: a full-length documentary film script for NHNZ, a self-published novel, Shadow Swans, (www.laurabama.com), and five albums of original music (www.laurabama.com). I've also written dozens of film pitches and promotional materials.
